Working with local community groups
The restoration of two buildings at the former Carsebridge whisky distillery site in Alloa took a step forward as they became the host venue for the gathering of the Chairs of the United Nations Association Scotland.
The Chairs of the organisation were in Alloa, which has just become the latest local branch to join the network, for their quarterly meeting. The Association is a charity that builds support for the UN amongst policymakers, opinion-formers and the public.
Local community group Resonate Together is working with AC Land Regeneration to transform Ochil and Harvey House into a fully inclusive cultural hub that, as it develops, will feature a café, outdoor performance space, a wide range of creative activities, a pod hotel and an Artist’s Residency studio apartment.
AC Land has gifted a year’s free lease on the properties while Resonate Together campaigns to secure the much-needed funding to complete a community buy-out.
Following the UNA branch meeting Lynsey Breen, Head of Land Acquisitions cut a ribbon to celebrate the occasion and mark the next step in the restoration of the former Diageo office buildings which was the site of one of the biggest distilleries in Scotland.
The buildings are part of a brownfield development site owned by AC Land Regeneration (part of the Advance Group of Companies) which is also being transformed to accommodate much needed new housing.
